Environmental monitoring equipment and leachate management solutions for landfill sites

Flux Enviro provides environmental monitoring equipment and leachate management solutions for operational, closed and restored landfill sites across the UK and Ireland.

A key strength of our landfill offering is its breadth. We can supply the principal field instrumentation required for routine compliance, emissions monitoring and leachate extraction backed by equipment rental, calibration, servicing and technical support.

Our capabilities extend beyond instrumentation. Our team has direct experience of landfill planning, environmental licensing/permitting, landfill operation, compliance monitoring and compliance monitoring. This allows us to understand the operational or legislative drivers behind the measurements and provide practical support for both monitoring and leachate management.

Landfill Compliance & Environmental Monitoring

Routine landfill monitoring can require a wide range of field instrumentation across gas, groundwater, leachate, surface water and emissions.

Equipment includes:

  • Landfill gas analysers

  • Leachate and groundwater level meters

  • Oil/water interface meters

  • Groundwater and leachate sampling equipment

  • Field water-quality instruments

  • Surface water monitoring equipment

  • Flow measurement

  • Continuous level and water-quality logging

  • Continuous particulate monitoring – TSP, PM₁₀, PM₂.₅ and PM₁

  • Rainfall and meteorological monitoring

  • Data logging and remote monitoring

From an individual replacement instrument to a complete site equipment package, we can help operators standardise routine monitoring equipment and provide ongoing support throughout its working life. Equipment is available for purchase or rental, with calibration, servicing and repair available for supported instrumentation.

Landfill Gas Monitoring

Landfill gas monitoring is fundamental to routine site compliance and the management of both operational and closed landfill sites.

Flux Enviro supplies portable landfill gas analysers for measuring parameters including:

  • Methane (CH₄)

  • Carbon dioxide (CO₂)

  • Oxygen (O₂)

  • Hydrogen sulphide (H₂S)

  • Carbon monoxide (CO)

  • Differential pressure

  • Selected additional gases

Instrumentation can support routine monitoring of gas wells, perimeter boreholes, migration monitoring points and other site locations, with equipment available for purchase or rental.

Calibration, servicing and technical support are also available, helping sites maintain a consistent and reliable field monitoring fleet.

Groundwater, Leachate & Water Monitoring

Monitoring groundwater, leachate and surface water provides important information for environmental compliance and long-term landfill management.

We supply equipment for:

  • Groundwater and leachate level measurement

  • Groundwater and leachate sampling

  • Low-flow groundwater sampling

  • Oil/water interface measurement

  • Field water-quality measurement

  • Surface water sampling and monitoring

  • Water-level and temperature logging

  • Flow measurement

  • Continuous water-quality monitoring

Equipment can be supplied for routine manual monitoring or longer-term logged measurements depending on site requirements.

Leachate Management & LORENTZ Pumping Systems

Leachate pumping is a critical part of landfill management and can represent a significant operational and energy cost over the lifetime of a site. Since the introduction of LORENTZ Energy pumping systems to Ireland, systems supplied by Flux Enviro now account for >75% of total leachate extraction in Northern Ireland. These systems are provided on either a supply-only or supply-and-maintain basis, allowing the level of ongoing support to be matched to individual site requirements.

Flux Enviro combines practical experience of leachate management and compliance obligations with high-efficiency LORENTZ pumping systems to develop pumping arrangements around individual wells and site requirements.

Systems can provide:

  • High-efficiency pump and motor technology

  • Reduced electrical consumption and operating costs

  • Capability to handle challenging leachate and flubber

  • Variable flow and pumping rates

  • Mains-powered operation

  • Solar-powered operation

  • Combined mains and solar configurations

  • Solutions for remote wells without conventional power infrastructure

  • Remote pump monitoring and management

  • Operating and performance data

  • Alarms and fault notification

  • Remote configuration and control

  • Multi-pump and multi-site management

The efficiency of the pump and motor system can provide significant energy savings compared with conventional pumping arrangements, particularly across sites operating multiple leachate extraction wells.

Flexible power options allow each installation to be designed around the available infrastructure. Existing mains supplies can be utilised where practical, while solar or combined solar/mains systems can provide an alternative where extending electrical infrastructure to remote wells would be difficult or expensive.

Remote connectivity can provide visibility of pump status, operation, performance and alarms, allowing faults or changing conditions to be identified earlier and reducing reliance on routine physical inspections.

The result is a leachate pumping system designed around effective leachate control, energy efficiency, reliability and whole-life operating cost.

Continuous Particulate & Meteorological Monitoring

Operational waste and landfill sites may also require monitoring of airborne particulate and meteorological conditions at site boundaries or sensitive receptors.

Systems can measure:

  • TSP

  • PM₁₀

  • PM₂.₅

  • PM₁

  • Wind speed and direction

  • Rainfall

  • Temperature and relative humidity

  • Other meteorological parameters

Combining continuous particulate measurements with wind speed and direction can help identify when particulate events occur and their potential relationship with site activities and prevailing conditions.

Where required, data can be remotely accessed with configurable alarms and notifications.

Complete Support for Landfill Operations

Our landfill offering extends from the portable instruments used for routine compliance monitoring through to permanently installed leachate pumping and environmental monitoring infrastructure.

Flux Enviro can support:

  • Equipment selection and supply

  • Equipment rental

  • Calibration, servicing and repair

  • Monitoring system design

  • Leachate pumping system design

  • Installation and commissioning

  • Data logging and telemetry

  • Ongoing technical support

This combination of landfill experience, field instrumentation and pumping expertise allows us to understand the wider operational requirement rather than simply supplying individual products.
