Bulk Density Kit

The AMS Bulk Density Soil Sampling Kit is designed for collecting known-volume, minimally disturbed soil cores for accurate determination of soil bulk density. It is suitable for sampling at the soil surface, within auger holes and from profile pits, with sampling possible to approximately 0.9 m depth, depending on soil conditions.

The system uses 51 × 51 mm stainless steel liners with a known volume of 90.59 cm³, allowing bulk density to be readily calculated from the dry mass and known volume of the collected sample. The sampler incorporates a reduced clearance between the cutting tip and liner to minimise compaction as soil enters the sampler, while an integrated waste barrel provides additional relief to help prevent sample compression from overdriving.

The Hex Quick Pin version includes a compact slide hammer for controlled percussive sampling and is fully compatible with the AMS Hex Quick Pin range of handles, extensions and augers.

The complete AMS kit includes 25 stainless steel liners, Compact Slide Hammer, Regular and Planer Augers, Open-Face Auger, 457 mm Cross Handle, 610 mm extension, Idaho Spoon, bulk density cup/cap, liner end caps, cleaning brush and equipment cases. All kit components are available for purchase separately and bespoke kits available on request.
