Augers

Purchase

AMS Hex Quick Pin soil augers provide a versatile modular system for manual soil investigation, borehole advancement and environmental sampling.

The Hex Quick Pin connection allows augers, extensions and handles to be quickly connected and changed in the field without threaded connections or additional tools. A range of auger designs is available to suit different ground conditions, while extensions allow boreholes to be progressively advanced to greater depths.

Regular Auger

The Regular Auger is the general-purpose option for sampling and borehole advancement across a wide range of soil conditions. Its open cutting design allows soil, small stones and other material to enter the auger body.

Best suited to: general soils, loam, mixed soils and soils containing small gravel.

Mud Auger

The Mud Auger is designed for wet, cohesive and sticky soils. Its open-sided construction and widely spaced cutting bits allow wet material to enter the auger while making collected soil easier to remove.

Best suited to: clay, silt, wet soils and other cohesive materials.

Sand Auger

The Sand Auger features a more enclosed cutting design with a restricted opening to help retain loose material within the auger during retrieval.

Best suited to: sand, loose soils and unconsolidated materials.

Combination Edelman Auger

The Combination Edelman Auger is a versatile open-body auger designed for effective borehole advancement and sampling across mixed soil conditions.

Its distinctive dual-vaulted cutting blades guide soil into the auger while providing effective sample retention. The design performs particularly well where clay and sandy soils are encountered within the same borehole.

Best suited to: mixed soils, clay, sand, soil profiling and environmental investigation.

Planer Auger

The Planer Auger is designed to clean and level the base of an existing borehole. The cutting blade removes loose material from the bottom of the hole to provide a clean surface before further sampling or testing.

Best suited to: borehole cleaning and preparation prior to soil core sampling or geotechnical testing.
