Auger Handles
Hex Quick Pin Handles for Manual Soil Augering
AMS handles are designed for use with Hex Quick Pin augers and extension rods, providing a robust and convenient system for manual soil sampling and borehole advancement. Two handle options are available to suit different ground conditions and working environments.
Standard 18" Cross Handle
The AMS 18" Cross Handle provides a simple and durable solution for general-purpose hand augering. Its wide cross-bar provides good leverage and control when rotating augers through a range of soil conditions.
The coated handle provides improved grip and comfort during field use, while the Hex Quick Pin connection allows rapid attachment to compatible AMS augers and extension rods.
Key Features
18" (457 mm) cross handle
Coated grip for improved handling
Good leverage for manual augering
Hex Quick Pin connection
Simple, robust construction
Compatible with AMS Hex Quick Pin augers and extensions
Ratchet Handle
The AMS Ratchet Handle provides an alternative to the standard cross handle offering more ergonomic use of the auger system. The ratcheting action allows the auger to be advanced using a back-and-forth movement rather than requiring a complete rotation of the handle.
Key Features
Ratcheting action for efficient manual augering
Ideal for restricted-access locations
Ergonomics - Eliminates the need for continuous 360° handle rotation
Provides excellent leverage and control
Hex Quick Pin connection
Robust construction for professional field use
Compatible with AMS Hex Quick Pin augers and extension rods
Both handles can be combined with the wider AMS Hex Quick Pin system to create a modular setup for soil sampling and hand augering at increasing depths. The standard 18" handle is recommended for use with direct push methods (e.g. gouge auger / russian corer) or occasional use whereas the ratchet handle is strongly recommend for frequent augering!
