Grab Samplers
Grab / Dredge samplers are a robust stainless steel sampler designed for collecting disturbed sediment samples from the beds of lakes, rivers, canals, reservoirs and other water bodies.
The sampler is lowered to the bed with its jaws held open. On contact with the sediment, the release mechanism is activated and the jaws close as the sampler is retrieved, capturing material from the upper sediment layer. This simple mechanical operation provides a reliable and efficient method for collecting representative bulk samples and obtaining a rapid indication of sediment type.
Manufactured from inert stainless steel, grab samplers are suitable for environmental investigations and routine sediment sampling. Four sizes are available, with sample capacities from 0.5 to 12 litres, allowing the sampler to be selected according to the required sample volume and deployment method.
Smaller versions can be manually deployed using a rope or cable, while larger models can be operated using a davit or winch. The sampler is suitable for soft to medium consolidated sediments including silts and sands.
