The manual water level meter includes and measuring tape and acoustic sounder for measuring depth to water. This equipment is often referred to as a 'plopper' attributed to the noise produce upon water contact. The measuring tape is incrementally marked at 1mm and 1cm centres and the tape length calibrated to accommodate the plopper length. With a diameter of Ø17mm this equipment is suitable for measurements within narrow diameter monitoring wells, such as those on peatland monitoring projects.
