The Handheld Window Sampling System is a lightweight, portable solution for obtaining high-quality, relatively undisturbed soil samples in restricted access locations. Designed for rapid environmental and geotechnical investigations, the system enables soil sampling to depths of up to 10 metres with minimal site disturbance, making it ideal for contaminated land assessments, ground investigations, and environmental research. In addition to soil sampling the system is also suitable for installation of narrow diameter piezometers (typically Ø32mm OD) for groundwater or ground gas sampling.

Compact and easy to transport, the system can be operated by a small field team and is particularly well suited to locations where conventional drilling rigs cannot gain access.

Efficient Soil Sampling

The system uses window (ex liner) and windowless (liner) samplers driven into the ground using a portable percussion hammer. Once the desired depth is reached, the sampler is recovered to provide a relatively undisturbed soil profile suitable for logging, sampling, and laboratory testing. The drill string can be recovered using a highly effective retrieval system incorporating a ball clamp and levers or alternatively a hydraulic recovery system. The technique produces minimal spoil and requires little site reinstatement.

    The system is compatible with other percussive hammers including hydraulic systems, corded and cordless hammers however the Cobra TTe offers optimum impact force and is relatively lightweight at 24kg.
